The graph shows the area of effective potential habitat (km2) for
the tiger over time. Landscapes are delineated in six types: species
landscapes (also known as tiger conservation landscapes or TCLs), species
fragments, survey landscapes, survey fragments, restoration landscapes, and
restoration fragments. Landscapes contain enough area of appropriate
vegetation type and low human footprint score for at least five female
tigers to reside there. Species landscapes are known to have tigers within
the 5 years prior to the time point date; survey landscapes may have tigers
but their current state is uncertain; restoration landscapes are known not
to have tigers. Fragments don't have enough connected area to support even 5
tigers. Click on the "Countries" button to select a country and

A note about countries
The country boundaries employed for analytical purposes do not imply
endorsement of any particular claims to sovereignty or territorial
integrity, and do not claim to be definitive for any particular purpose. For
purposes of analysis, we define "country" as any entity with an
ISO-3166-1 code, as shown here. If different geographies need to be analyzed,
all code is open to inspection, and a
demonstration Earth Engine script is available
for analyzing user-defined geographies.
